THIS SUNDAY

When showing up feels hard…

Sometimes the hardest part of faithfulness is not the work itself. It’s the waiting. You keep showing up, serving, praying, caring, giving, and doing what love requires — but the results are not always easy to see. After a while, it’s natural to wonder whether any of it is really making a difference.

This Sunday, we’ll look at a better way to understand faithful service. God’s Kingdom doesn’t grow like a machine, where effort produces instant, measurable output. It’s more like a garden, where one person plants, another waters, and God gives the growth in His time. As part of Volunteer Appreciation Sunday, we’ll also take time to honor those who serve quietly and faithfully — not because they can control the outcome, but because their work matters to God.

Last Sunday

The electricity failed, but the power was on!

Marie Collins planned to bring a special Mother’s Day message this past Sunday, but a power failure just before service kept us from recording it. So we came back and re-recorded it—and we’re glad we did.

In The Power of Small, Marie reflects on the small moments, quiet choices, unseen acts of love, and ordinary seeds of faithfulness that often feel too insignificant to matter. But what if those are the very things God uses to grow something lasting?

This message was especially meaningful for Mother’s Day, but it reaches far beyond the holiday. It’s for anyone who has ever wondered whether their prayers, presence, patience, kindness, or faithfulness are actually making a difference.

Because in the kingdom of God, nothing planted in love is ever wasted.

Groundwork

Feeling lonely doesn’t always mean being alone.

Feeling lonely doesn’t always mean being alone. Sometimes the ache is deepest when you’re surrounded by people, greeted by name, and still wonder if anyone really knows what you’re carrying.

In this episode of Groundwork, Mike Collins talks about why friendship and belonging can be so hard in adult life—and why being seen is not the same as being known. With warmth and honesty, he explores the hidden loneliness many people carry, even in families, workplaces, neighborhoods, and churches, and offers a gentle path toward deeper connection through small, faithful steps.

If you’ve ever felt unknown in a room full of people, this conversation will help you see that you’re not the only one—and that belonging often begins with one ordinary step toward another person.

Coming Up at Solid Ground

  • Saints Behind the Scenes

    Celebrate Our Saints

Every week at Solid Ground, ministry happens because faithful people serve—often quietly and without recognition, like “saints behind the scenes.”

They welcome guests, teach kids, lead worship, run tech, pray, set up, care for others, and help make Solid Ground feel like home. Their work may not always be visible, but its impact is felt throughout our church family.

On Sunday, May 17, we’ll take time after the service to thank and celebrate these special people with a Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. We’ll share some yummy tacos for lunch, enjoy time as a church family, and honor the quiet faithfulness that strengthens Solid Ground week after week.

This lunch is not just for volunteers. Everyone is invited. Please plan to stay, eat, connect, and help us celebrate the people who make ministry happen at Solid Ground.

  • It's Coffee Time!

Our Sunday sermons are designed to be the first words in a conversation, not the last. The discussion continues every Wednesday morning at Coffee Klatch on the NE corner of Foothill and Vineyard in Rancho Cucamonga. Join Pastor Mike and a group of eager Solid Grounders as we dig deeper into what God’s Word has to say to us.

We practice the way of Jesus and we want you to be part of the journey.

Following Jesus is about more than attending weekend services. It’s about living life to the full, connected to Jesus and to one another. It’s about having a community of people to rally around us when we need it and a willingness to do the same for them. Navigate around our site to explore the variety of ways you can serve and be served as part of our faith family.
